Description
This upload contains the 40Ar/39Ar geochronology age determination of sample 44A-ARGON-2 from Floreana Island in Galapagos and was calculated using the ArArCALC freeware. The preferred age of 0.9277 ± 0.0036 Ma is the age plateau and is interpreted as the eruption age of the sample. A reliable plateau with low and high temp recoil. The age determination was carried out on a sample of basalt (groundmass) in an incremental heating experiment and using the bulk laser heating extraction method. The analyses were run on a ARGUS-VI mass spectrometer and the ages were calculated relative to flux monitor FCT-3 (sanidine) with an age of 28.201 ± 0.082 Ma. This sample was collected by Andrea Balbas (Balbasam@caltech.edu). Sample Description: 1x leaching. Sample Treatment: A lava flow from Floreana Island, Galapagos. Location Description: Floreana Island, Galapagos. Site GA79 (Rochette et al. 1997; Kent et al. 2010) aka G44 (Cox and Dalrymple 1966). .
