| Description | Nukulaelae Atoll is located at 9¿ 24' S, 179¿ 52.8' E and is part of the Tuvalu Seamount Trail on the Pacific Plate. The atoll has an elliptical morphology and well-developed barrier reef. It has a narrow free-air gravity anomaly and unusually-oriented residual magnetic anomaly. The seamount was probably formed on young lithosphere in the Cretaceous. |
