Description
This diagram illustrates a convergent plate boundary where oceanic crust is subducting beneath continental crust. As the crust subducts, part of the descending plate melts and rises to the surface, and a volcanic arc forms. The asthenosphere, lithosphere, and oceanic crust are all depicted in this subduction zone diagram. |
