Description
To gradually heat up a sample until it eventually melts, often times a CO2 laser is used. This image shows the sample tray with different samples that are ready to be analyzed for 40Ar/39Ar geochronology. The grey samples are basaltic groundmasses; the whitish samples are plagioclase feldspars; and the shiny black samples on the top and in the lower right corner are biotite minerals. |
