Description
This zip file contains 5 kml files of declination (green symbols), inclination (red symbols) and intensity data (yellow symbols) used to create the global geomagnetic field model CALS7K.2, with the lake data (circles) and archaeomagnetic data (triangles) in separate files. Google Earth is required to open these files.
Clicking on individual data points brings up a text box with the age and associated uncertainty, the measurement with one standard deviation uncertainty, the location and finally the reference ID, which refers to the ID's as assigned in the Korte et al., 2005 data set. For the lake data, the extra term e.g. "probage" refers to the dating method used, again with reference to the Korte et al., 2005 data set.
Please visit my webpage for further information: http://pcwww.liv.ac.uk/~alodge/Downloads.html
Also available from EarthRef are kmz files for the CALS7K.2 model for each component, declination, inclination and intensity with two different colour scales. However, due to the large size of these files, each forms a single contribution.
Rainbow colour scales: Declination, A.D.: http://earthref.org/cgi-bin/erda.cgi?n=955 Declination, B.C.: http://earthref.org/cgi-bin/erda.cgi?n=954 Inclination: http://earthref.org/cgi-bin/erda.cgi?n=952 Intensity: http://earthref.org/cgi-bin/erda.cgi?n=950
Polar colour scales: Declination: http://earthref.org/cgi-bin/erda.cgi?n=953 Inclination: http://earthref.org/cgi-bin/erda.cgi?n=951 Intensity: http://earthref.org/cgi-bin/erda.cgi?n=948
It should be noted that an alternative to downloading these files is to download the smaller files from my webpage, which access the images from a web server:

Instructions For those unfamiliar with Google Earth, you can either drag and drop the files onto your Google Earth icon, or double-click them and they should open in Google Earth. Then use the left-hand panel to navigate through the files. |
