Measurements by Hutcheon <1975> on the production rate of micron-sized craters on the lunar surface disagree with our findings by approximately a factor of 50. The disagreement is most evident when ratiosn of crater densities (or a selected diameter) are compared with solar flare track density at a selected dept. This comparison shows that Hutcheon <1975> observes fewer crater per track produced than Morrison and Zinner <1975> by a factor of approximately 50 several sampled surfaces. The discrepancy cannot be attributed to variation in experimental techniques or assumptions, but it may represent sampling difficulties. |
