We point out the necessity for including the terms describing coalescence in the charge development formalism of the numerical modeling of the induction charging mechanism of thunderclouds. Published work neglects this term and causes an error of the order of 1/(1-E2) ?100 to 1000, where E2 is the coalescence probability given a collision.
