Guza, R.T. and Thornton, E.B. (1981). Wave set-up on a natural beach. Journal of Geophysical Research 86: doi: 10.1029/JC086iC05p04133. issn: 0148-0227.

Wave set-up, the superelevation of mean water level owing to the presence of breaking incident waves, was measured at the shoreline of a natural beach. Offshore pressure sensors monitored incident wave conditions. The set-up of the shoreline was found to be about 0.17Hs,∞, where H2,∞, is the significant wave height in deep water.
