The amplitudes and phases of the tidal constituents M2, S2, K1, and O1 in the Bay of Bengal are deduced from tide gauge records at 112 locations with the aid of numerical models based on the vertically integrated equations of motion and continuity. Tidal elevations along the southern open boundary of the bay were obtained by interpolation from observations. The results are presented in the form of cotidal charts. These show that the constituents examined have no amphidromic points in the Bay of Bengal apart from a degenerate amphidrome for M2 in the northwest part of the bay.
