A major fraction of the anthropogenically derived enriched V on atmospheric particles in rapidly solubilized in sea water. The generally longer residence times of soluble species relative to particles indicates that pollution V in the ocean will be long-term although this input source will not significantly increase the oceanic V reservoir.
